In beige again

According to the forecast soon I can wear lighter clothes again. The heat is coming back. Oh dear. But to say the truth, I like it, when the weather is so different, it gives the opportunity for much more different outfits :) Beige is my latest discover, every summer I was wearing colourful clothes. But this year (I have no idea why) I feel better in toned shades. I feel very well in beige, I think I looks good with my hair and doesn't just call for stains :)

Plain white shirt

Tegoroczne lato należy chyba do tych dziwniejszych. Dzisiaj, by móc spokojnie zjeść śniadanie na balkonie, musiałam włożyć sweter. Oczywiście wolę wkładać lekki sweter, niż bezproduktywny upał, ale mimo wszystko...

DziÅ› mogÅ ‚am zost awić moje lekkie sukienki i wskoczyć znowu w ulubione dżinsy. KoszulkÄ™ mam jeszcze w wersji niebieskiej, co pokazywaÅ‚am w poÅ›cie Navy with pink i fioletowej (Violet, orang and navy ).

This years summer is very weird. A week ago I was dying because of the heat, now I had to wear a cardigan having my breakfast on the balcony. But to say the truth - I prefer wearing a cardigan instead doing nothing because it's sooo hot.

Well, I could leave my summer dresses at home for a while, and wear my favorite jeans again. I have the shirt I am wearing in two different colors too - in navy (Navy with pink) and violet (Violet, orang and navy ).

Looking at this pictures I realized one think - it is really rarely that I buy my accessories just like that in the city, I prefer things with a small history behind. For example: the scarf is a souvenir from Gdynia, the watch is a gift from my husband for our first Christmas as mar ried cou ple and the bracelet was a surprise from my husband (I asked him to buy me something through the Internet, what he did, but he added this little piece as a gift, it was a very nice surprise by unpacking the box). The bag has also its little story, but about this - maybe another time :)

Sunset Style - The Plus Size Bohemian Dress of my Dreams

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
If there's one undeserved fashion style in the plus market its bohemian style. Which is why I totally jumped (and I mean literally leapt off the ground and put space between the floor and my feet) when I saw this plus size bohemian dress on Asos a few months ago.
From the wispy, gauze fabric to the bare shouldered grace, I love everything about this plus size bohemian dress. It screams of a warm summer day. A walk on the beach at sunset, perhap s, with bare feet scrunched in damp sand. In this case, on a Venice Beach rooftop just as the Magic Hour was setting in.
I also love the unexpected. Paring the hard with the soft. So, rather than opt for a minimal-style sandal I paired this plus size bohemian dress with my new, thigh-high black suede boots. Practical? Probably not. But, I loved wearing the two together. Without the boots I like  to wrap a skinny belt around my waist and blouse the dress out a bit. This makes the dress a bit shorter (which wor ks for m y petite height frame) and also defines the waist- a look that I like as well.
I kept my hair wild and free here but, for a more everyday look I'd opt for a messy bun or braided crown of some kind.

What do you think of this look? Where would you wear an outfit like this? Chime in below, I'd love to hear from you!

Maxin & Relaxin

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
pumpsandstudz.blogspot.com

A few days into my vacation I realized my cover up was left at home, so I purchased this tribal print maxi one from Ashley Stewart.

I was drawn to this particularl piece because it looks like a mixture between a maxi dress, a cover up, and possibly even a long shirt.  Like the long slit tunic tees that have been popular this summer, this piece has two side slits that go all the way up to my waist.  Today, I wore it as a cover up over my swimsuit because although I wasn't swimming, I was engaging in poolside activities. By the way, my swimsuit can be seen here.

I can also envision it paired with a tank a nd short s or even a simple knee length slip dress.  Basically, a perfect little summer outer layer that is light and suffienctly breezy to be worn to the pool or out and about casually, and who doesn’t love an item that can work with everything?

Coincidently, Ashley Stewart is having an after season sale with up to 70% off sale merchandise and 30% off new items.  My maxi cover up is sold out online but still available in stores.

I hope you are enjoying your summer! Until next time, Stay Fabulous!!

xx
Delilah

Turning Back Time

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
So a fun fact about me is that I was named after Cher's then daughter (now son), Chastity Bono. My parents used to watch the Sonny & Cher show while my mom was pregnant.   I've always loved Cher and her daring bold looks and I decided to channel my inner Cher.  This isn't a style capture, it more of an inspired by look.  The 70s was such a fun time in fashion and it was definitely over the top.  I took some of my favorite things about 7os fashion and Cher and used them to inspire this look.  I'm not into bell bottoms, but I love wide leg pants. Some will say that for my body ty pe this isn't the best style for me b/c of the volume and width of the pants, but as you all know by now I do what I want. LOL.

Style Notes:  Some of you may have seen these pants on my Snapchat (@garnerstyle).  These were the "vagina pocket pants." There were two huge pleats in the front that made these pants that literally cupped and outlined the crotch area. No bueno.  I loved how the pants fit in the legs, so I decided to take them to the tailor to see if they could be saved...and they were. Yeah! Unfortunately, I purchased these a while ago and they are no longer available.  The top is from Urban Outfitters and was purchased in a size large. It's a knit and is very stretchy.

Outfit Details:  Pants - ASOS, Top - Urb an Outfitters, Shoes - ASOS (similar), Earrings - Roman & Sunstone, Bag - L.A. Boutique (sold out)
Undergarments: Bra - Ashley Stewart, Footless Tights - My Tights

Easy Saturday in Turban and Maxi Dress

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

Scarf-HM, Dress-Forever21(soldout), Necklace-Forever21, Sunnies-Celine, Sandals-Old Navy

Saturday’s in the summertime can go from 0 to 100 real quick. My days and nights end up running together with me never knowing what’s going to happen. I am a sucker for a good brunch, browsing a book store, wandering through downtown and having cocktails. Lots of cocktails might I add. Whenever I suspect I am going to get caught up on a Saturday. My goal is to be cute, comfortable and ready for all of the possibilities.

A few years ago my Girlfriend Nicki gave me this scarf from HM, I love the bright colors and the butterflies. I have worn it from everything from a sarong to a purse decoration. I turned it into a turban and paired it with this chiffon dress from Forever 21, which is currently sold out online (Sorry). I loved the boho vibe of this look and how comfortable it was to navigat e from d aytime to nighttime with the quick change of a shoe.

Fashion Facts: I haven’t worn my hair in a turban in years. I was feeling whimsical and decided to try something new. A few people discussed their apprehension to do so for fear of looking crazy. Here are my tips for rocking a turban. Always use a bold scarf, the bolder the better! Don’t shy away from exotic prints for darker colors. Find a bright colored lipstick to compliment the colors you are wearing. Pile on the jewelry. Don’t forget own the look! Check out this great video from Chastity Garner on how to tie your turban. I used it when I was tying mine.

Anyone else find their daytime getting away from them on the we ekends s o you get dressed for your entire day? Share your tips with me.

Thank you for reading,

J

Introducing: Strand Of Silk – Swatee Singh

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

I have always loved Indian fashion. The bright colours, luxurious fabrics and modest yet feminine styles are all big ticks in my book. And so when Strand Of Silk contacted me offering me the chance to have a custom made piece from their vast array of products on their website, I was super excited!
I met up with the adorable Alana from the brand, and we discussed a few things including my preferred style of clothing and the sort of price point that would suit myself and my readers when demonstrating a piece from their website. She told me more about the brand, showed me some beautiful photos from a shoot she styled and we even discussed cultural appropriation, which is a line that can be crossed by some without realising it when it comes to wearing pieces traditionally meant for other cultures.
Not long after she told me that the designer who would be the best fit for me would probably be Swatee Singh, and I was asked to choose an item.
It took me about thirty seconds to decide on the piece that I wanted. A beautiful colourful dress with a lovely full skirt and a fun asymmetrical neckline – the ‘Vibrant Retro Flared Dress’ was the one for me!

Alana sent me a list of measurements that I was to take as well as a chart to show me exactly what was meant by each measurement. It took a little time to do and to be sure it was all accurate but it was straightforward, and I sent off my measurement and my dress went into production.

A few weeks later a lovely box arrived, and it contained my beautiful dress. Fully lined and made with the most gorgeous, vibrantly coloured silk, it was a thing of real beauty. I had to try it on straight away, and I was pleased at the way it fitted me so perfectly – I did the measurements right!

I added my Curvy Kate strapless Luxe bra to the outfit, and the fitted aspect of the dress didn’t allow my boobs to go anywhere!

DSC_0023 DSC_0039 DSC_0070 DSC_0080

The dress fastens with an invisible zip and a hook and eye under the arm, and so it looks flawless all over. My measurements specified that the dress hit my just below the knee which it did perfectly. The neckline was fab – I could have had a different one but I fancied a change to my usual preferred style of neckline and sleeves, and this provided that.

DSC_0086 DSC_0096 DSC_0149

I think that the diagonal neckline gives a nod towards Indian fashion – it almost reminds me of a saree. The bright colours and silk are also nice touches that give the outfit an Indian feel, and I imagine that if styled in a traditional Indian way it would look eye popping!
I chose to style it in a modern/pin up way and I think it works rather well.

DSC_0152 DSC_0182 DSC_0200 DSC_0210

I certainly got a few stares as Robbie and I wandered around Twickenham last Sunday to take photos – one man even stopped us to say that we looked like a lovely couple and my dress reminded him of a shirt he wore in his native Barbados and a girl he used to know there. It’s certainly a show stopper and extremely comfortable to wear. I really wish I had a forthcoming wedding to wear it to!

Do you fancy trying this dress for yourself or something else from the Strand Of Silk website? If so use the code ‘GEORGINAJUN2015‘ and get 10% off until the end of June 2015. The code can be used up to 50 times – so hurry if you do have your eye on something!

What do you think of this beautiful the ‘Vibrant Retro Flared Dress’ by Swatee Singh? Where would you wear it if you had one? Would you keep it as is or would you change the length or neckline? Let me know!

My accessories are from Accessorize and my shoes are from Primark :)
