Blog: www.mrsbebeblog.co.uk
Height: 5’7″

unnamed 2What made you want to become a fashion blogger? What led you to it?
I was in a really bad place personally in regards to my body image, I came across plus size fashion blogs, I was so inspired by these amazing women that I started my own. It helped change my perception of myself and restore my confidence.

What are the challenges, if any, you face in being plus-size?
Shopping for the plus size body can still be a challenge in terms of variety available and fit, but things have improved dramatically. On a personal level, I still find it difficult when people judge me on my size and make assumptions about my health, but as my confidence continues to grow, I can brush it off much easier than I could have done before I started my blog.

unnamed 1What’s your favorite thing about being plus-size?
I love hearing from women who read my blog who say it’s changed their lives. When I get an email to say I have given them confidence and a new found love of fashion I’m just overjoyed, because that is what it’s all about – empowering plus size women.

What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger? A plus fashion blogger?
Getting to share my love of fashion, chatting with people who share that passion too, and getting to see all the new trends up close and personal at events.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
I love ASOS Curve for fast fashion. I love Elie Saab – her dresses are just stunning, and Michael Kors’ SS15 show was really strong this year – great prints and shapes.

unnamed 3Describe your personal style.
Eclectic! I love mixing high street and vintage. I’m quite casual and love nothing more than putting on my favorite pair of jeans!

Any bloggers currently on your radar?
I love In My Joi and Grown and Curvy Woman, and of course, my UK girls, Pamper and Curves, Frivolous Mrs D, and How Kate Does Fashion.

Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?
Throw out the rule book, have fun with fashion, and wear clothes that you love! Life is too short to wear boring clothes!

Hope you enjoyed meeting Kate! Do you already read her blog? Any plus-size bloggers you want to see featured? Let us know below!

Off Duty Style: Mad For Plaid

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

Happy Hump Day all!

Each Fall I look for a statement coat whether that be in color or in print. Unfortunately finding a statement coat can be  somewhat tricky because many retailers don’t equate plus size with fashionable  which is  frustrating.  I yearn for the day when dark colored  coats are not presented as the only options for us. Until that happens, retailers such as Eloquii, ASOS and Simply Be  have stepped up by offering coats in a variety of colors and prints.   Eloquii’s plaid coat is an example of this.  It’s instantly become the  statement coat  I’ve been looking for.  It’s roomy without being bulky and versatile which is important to me. Plus it’s in red plaid!!! YES!!!

What is your favorite statement coat?

Have a wonderful day!

Family Vacation 2014

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)Whew! I know I'm not the only one who needs a vacation AFTER my vacation, right? This month has been a whirlwind of healthy-eating, soccer-playing, kindergarten-graduation, and general end-of-schooling, so when my mother-in-law suggested we all convene in the mountains of Tennessee for a short family vacation, we jumped at the chance. Being a half-day drive from Gatlinburg and the Great Smokey Mountains, we have made this trip quite often, but it's always an enjoyable one!

Our first priority, at least according to Sean, was finding a couple of go-kart tracks so he could live out his Mario-Kart fantasies. True story- I am hell on wheels in real life, and I have multiple speeding tickets to prove it, but I am a big chicken when it comes to go-karts. Luckily, the family "needed" someone to take pictures, so I was happy to oblige. I don't think Sean's ever been happier! I've got to find a go-kart track closer to home!

Later in the afternoon, we headed out to the Aquarium of the Smokies for more family fun. Unfortunately, Sean seemed to think he was still of the tracks and FLEW through the exhibits, so I have no photos of him in there, but here are some of my favorite pics Curtis managed to capture.

After dinner that night, we headed into the "Holler" for some moonshine tasting (and maybe buying!). The Ole Smokey Moonshine Distillery was a TON of fun. Unfortunately, it was so crowded it was impossible to get good photos. We were crammed elbow-to-elbow at the tasting table, but it was totally worth it. We sampled all THIRTEEN available flavors, and our awesome moonshiner Frank threw in a couple of extra "shots" as well. There are some photos of the debauchery on my Instagram feed and I think the multiple distilleries that have opened recently are a great addition to downtown Gatlinburg. But maybe that's just the lush in me.

Later this week, I will share a little more from our trip. Truth be told, I didn't do any "fashion shoots" because I lived in the same pair of distressed denim shorts and t-shirts all weekend long.  However, I can't recommend these denim shorts from Old Navy enough. They were the perfect length, perfectly broken in, all that good stuff. If I can find them on sale again, I will definitely snatch up another pair! Click on any photo below for shopping info!

So what are YOU doing this summer!??

Fall Essentials with J.Jill Life Stylers

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
The ladies at J.Jill offered to send me a few items to spruce up my fall wardrobe WAY back at the end of August. Now, at the end of October, it is finally cool enough down here to get to wear it. I know it's a totally blogger cliche, but fall really is my favorite season. I love the clothes; the candles smell awesome, and apple cider is my drink of choice (not pumpkin spice latte, though it's near the top of the list!)

Yorkshire Pullover- c/o J.Jill
Smooth-Fit Straight Leg Jeans- c/o J.Jill
Scarf- Old Navy (similar here)
Booties- Target (similar here)

You can't go wrong with a nice pair of jeans and a super chunky sweater, as far as I am concerned. Throw on a scarf and a cute pair of booties and you are ready for a nighttime football game or a late-night showing of Gone Girl. I'll let you guess which one I talked my husband into taking me to...

I've kinda sworn off buying jeans because we can't wear them to work, but when I read on J.Jill's website about these new Smooth-Fit jeans, I couldn't help being intrigued. One of the most unflattering qualities about most jeans are the pockets. They puckered up and poke out, adding extra girth exactly where I don't want it! However, the pockets in these jeans are super deep and then securely sewn into place- giving the front of the jeans a nice, smooth appearance and giving my stomach area just a little extra, well, you know--- a nice, smooth appearance. I will tell you this. If you are a long-legged gal then these jeans will be perfect for you, but if you are a little stumpy like me, you may want to size down to petite or be prepared to cuff or hem them.

Fall in Fringe

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
Because fringe will dance in the wind.
You can also bust a random move on the street.
Fringe Biker Jacket c/o Simply Be, Oversized White T-shirt and Black Skinny Jeans: ASOS Curve, Sunglasses: Saint Laurent

See? The thing about fringe is that not only is it one of the seasons hottest trends, it also enhances your dance moves. Subtle movements are now impactful. The slightest twist or turn suddenly becomes full throttle. Basically, fringe does nearly all of the work for you. All together now, "thank you fringe".

5 Ways to Wear Glittery Shoes

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
Go ahead and click your ruby slippers, or booties. Either or! Glittery shoes are so dope, here's why.
Fizz Glitter Mary Jane | Jazzle Brogues | Sparrow Glitter Slipper

Glittery shoes aren't just for the holiday season any more. Sparkle here, sparkle there, on brogues, sneakers and even cowboy booties? I'm going to be honest you guys - I LOVE sparkle however, glitter can be totally tragic if done incorrectly. It can look cheap or look like you're wearing your tween cousins accessories. But this falls fresh take on sparkly shoes is super chic. Just don't over do it.

Style tip: Wear glittery shoes with classic pieces for a more refined look. Here's how:

1. The jazzle brogues can punch up a work outfit. Try them with a great pair of trousers.

Licorice Glitter Pump | Leopard Glitter Courts

2. While a glittery pump can scream holiday, if you take these leopard glitter court pumps and toss them on with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans - they are perfect for any day of the week!

Yohji Yamamoto Rhita

3. Denim is an obvious choice for sneakers but for a more forward and totally on trend look, these glitter sneakers from Y3 would be pretty sick with a leather pencil skirt and an oversized sweater.

Allora | New York Gowan

4. Try the new york gowan from Kate Spade with wide leg pants for a more dressed up look or I'd pair them with boyfriend jeans (yep - they go with everything), a simple teeshirt and a great bag for kicking around.

Read My Lips Ankle Boots | Glitter Tabitha Color Block Boot | Magnum Glitter Ankle Boot

5. Glitter booties just might be the best thing ever. Go ahead and wear these with any and everything. For starters, the magnum glitter ankle boot and a simple black dress for a little black magic.

How to Wear the Same Outfit Twice

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
Sometimes it's so nice, ya gotta wear it twice.

Trench and Dress: ASOS Curve, Necklace: Topshop c/o Impulse PR, Bag: Maison Martin Margiela, Similar Cobalt Pumps (to size 12!)

As much as we hear about re-working outfits and reinventing our wardrobes the truth is, sometimes you really can get away with wearing the exact same outfit twice (if not thrice - lol that's totally a word).  So here it is. Same outfit, some of my favorite pieces - a grey trench and grey shift dress. I love monochromatic dressing so I pair pieces like this together quite often.

Outfit one I decided to punch up the grey with contrasting colors. Orange and cobalt blue are always so fun with grey. The white bag adds more contrast and a little bit of edge. I wear on a work day when I have a bunch of meetings, press days when I need to look a bit more dressed up or have events to attend.

Outfit 2

Sunglasses and Bag by Saint Laurent, Gorjana Necklace, Similar Leopard Booties

Outfit 2 is also work appropriate but I also might wear this to a brunch where I have to do a little better than boyfriend jeans and a sweater or to visit the family. The flat booties allow for more running around and give it a bit more of a casual vibe.

This isn't a "WOW! those pieces are totally transformed" kind of idea. It's about wearing outfits that you love as frequently as you like. Subtle changes not only keep you from being bored but also freshen up your look.
