Chafing Wars – Bandelettes From Mish Online

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

I talk about it every year, but it’s a problem that for some never goes away â€" chafing.
It happens to legs of all sizes, and it can ruin a summer’s day quicker than an empty bottle of Pimms. The dreaded ‘chub rub’ does not discriminate, and women (and men) everywhere clamour for cures and remedies to stop the uncomfortable friction fall out.
One solution that I have been trying recently comes in the form of the rather beautiful Bandelettes, available from Mish Online. The bandelettes are essentially the tops of stockings â€" silicone inner and pretty outer bar a plainer pair which could also appeal to men as they are plain and slightly less conspicuous. They come in white, black, beige and chocolate in the lacy styles which is awesome, as so many products do not cater to darker skinned wearers. I must admit that I had been curious about them for years, and so when Mish Online offered me the chance to try them I eagerly complied.

Bandelettes-2 Unixes-couple-clean Trio-back-2014

I messed up a little with the thigh measuring as I thought I would wear the Bandelettes a lot lower than I actually ended up doing â€" so DO measure the fullest part of your thighs to determine your size. For me, sizes C&D worked the best, B felt like I might amputate myself!
Initially I found that one thigh would stay up and the other just refused and would roll down all the time. I had to make sure I pulled them high enough and didn’t allow them to cut into my very fleshy inner thighs, and the softness of them caused them to cave in on themselves and roll down straight away. However, once they were in position I found that they stayed up very well. There were slight points where they did roll down a little bit and I think that wearing them for hours and hours of walking where I wouldn’t be able to adjust every so often would result in them rolling down, but wearing them out and about for shorter time frames has been totally fine.

DSC_0042 DSC_0043 DSC_0045 DSC_0046 DSC_0049

I do find that the lace ones stay up far better than the plain ones and I definitely preferred them as they are just so pretty. They made a gentle noise as they rubbed together when I walked, but it wasn’t noticeable to anyone else. They weren’t visible through more fitted items, although I think that the gentle rolling down would be if I wore something super fitted.

DSC_0060 DSC_0069 DSC_0071 DSC_0072 DSC_0074

And how were they at stopping chafing? Well I can confirm that I had zero chafing after every wear. I did adjust them slightly during toilet trips but that wasn’t really a bother or inconvenience.
Due to the silicone you do get slightly sweaty under them, and you will find that your legs are maybe a little damp when you remove them, but it didn’t seem to affect the silicone, nor did the gentle wipe I gave them with baby wipes just to keep them fresh.

DSC_0083 DSC_0092 DSC_0095 DSC_0103 DSC_0105

All in all I am super pleased with the Bandelettes, and I will be popping them on over them summer â€" maybe even under my wedding dress! As I said, they possibly wouldn’t stay up during super long treks, but if you want a pretty thigh adorner for a summer party that will stop the dreaded chafing then get ordering. Just make sure you measure the biggest part of your thigh.

Do you own or would you like to own Bandelettes? What do you think of them?

If you do fancy trying a pair out then click here to order them from Mish Online, who also sell lots of lovely D+ lingerie and swimwear. They are very kindly offering FFFB readrs 10% off Bandelettes until May the 31st – use the code ‘FULLER10′ to take advantage of this!

Denim Daze

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

Vest-The Limited (Similar here and here) Jeans-Torrid, T-Shirt-Forever21, Shoes-Asos(Sold Out) Similar,                Necklace-Bauble Bar

One of the most vivid shopping memories that I have as a teen was shopping for jeans with my Mom.  It was 1994, I was a sophomore in high school and I longed to have a pair of medium wash bootcut jeans from the Gap. At that time Gap jeans were premium denim and everyone had a pair. In the nineties if you were fat and fashionable you were pretty much out of luck. Plus-size jeans were boxy, hard and they came in terrible washes. I, always willing to be innovative with my wardrobe, wore men’s jeans. They were soft, generously cut and they came in all types of washes. I never minded that they had a button fly and didn’t quite fit my hips, I was happy to achieve the look I wanted.

Flash forward to today and there are more jeans styles available in plus-sizes than I ever thought possible. As I was recently cleaning out my closet I realized I had become something of a denim hoarder. My teenage self comes to life and has an irrational fear of not having the right pair of jeans. So I buy any and every pair that fits well. It’s like a tiny victory for a 14 year-old girl who cried on her mother’s shoulder, because buying old lady jeans was her only option.
I am grateful for how far plus-size clothing has come. I am grateful that teenage girls have options and they no longer have to endure the craziness that I went through. I am grateful that I have my choice of denim these days.

What’s your relationship with denim?

Casual + Chic

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
Plus size chambray shirt outfit
When I'm putting together a casual looking, my goals are comfort, cute, and it doesn't always include pants.  Denim will always give off a casual feel, so I took this Foxcroft denim shirt and shopped my closet for a leopard skirt (super old from JIBRI).  Denim shirts are a closet basic that I recommend for anyone's closet.  They pair great with just about anything or any color, but they also give you an o ption for dressing down an outfit, but in a super chic way.  I channeled my inner RiRi by unbuttoning the shirt low and adding in a chain necklace.

Style Notes: My favorite thing about this shirt was that it was cut a little different from you traditional chambray denim shirt.  It was a short sleeve, and the sleeves are in a wing style, which gives a slouch/oversized lay on the body.  That design creates a look that looks effortless.  I ordered a 22 in the shirt, because I wanted a looser fit.  The skirt is JIBRI it is one of the first pieces I purchased probably six plus years ago, but you can easily sub in your leopard pencil skirt from your own closet.  Finally, get 20% off of your Foxcroft purchase by using the code < b>FXGARN ER (excludes denim).

    HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
    Baggy pants are happy pants.
     Look right...

I have such a busy week ahead of me. In fact, the last few weeks have been crazy and though I feel pulled in 100 different directions I'm trying to keep it all together. I've been living in easy pieces that look effortless yet polished. Looking good while being comfortable is non negotiable...hence, baggy pants are perfect.

     Look left...

Fashion Blogger Spotlight: Allison of Inside Allie’s World

    HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

Did you enjoy catching up with Kellie of And I Get Dressed last week?  It’s so fun to have the chance to bring you so many amazing bloggers week after week!  The plus size fashion world is thriving, and this is in no small part due to the hard work and diverse voices of plus size fashion bloggers!  Today, we’re featuring another of our 20 breakout plus size bloggers of 2014, Allison of Inside Allie’s World!  Allison has a ton of experience in the fashion world, having had turns as a plus size model, blogger, and designer as well as being a published author and accomplished media correspondent.  On her blog, she shares her love of fashion as well as food, lifestyle, and body image related posts.  Allison is a plus size blogger YOU NEED TO KNOW!!

Meet Allison of Inside Allie’s World!!!

    charlotterusse_Mcgevna3Blog:  http://www.insidealliesworld.com/
    Height:  5’8”
    Location:  New York

What made you want to become a fashion blogger?
I became a fashion blogger because as I was working in media in television and digital, I realized that I had unique experiences that I wanted to write about. I wasn’t seeing a lot of women like me on the red carpet, so I wanted to share what that was like. And I also just got tired of people telling me about “flattering” clothes, so I started sharing my outfits along with my experiences and it took off from there.

What are the challenges, if any, you face in being plus-size?
A unique challenge for me, because I’m very curvy, is to not have dresses that are shorter or tighter look too tight and sexy on me. There are things that smaller women can wear to work — like fitted silhouettes or skirts above the knee — that I really can’t because my curves can make look them too racy. It’s fun for going out on date night or with the girls.  Other than that, I’ve always had this body, and I’ve gotten so used to dressing it that now it’s second nature.

I did recently get married which was a learning experience in terms of shopping for that. I chronicled what I learned on the blog and it got a lot of great feedback. The president of the company that designed my dress even wrote me a note saying that they loved the way I looked in the dress. That was a great moment.

What’s your favorite thing about being plus-size?
The same thing that can be a challenge is definitely something I appreciate as well. I love my curves, and I like to show them off.  I enjoy playing around with different silhouettes and prints that people say I shouldn’t wear. It’s fun to look great and prove people wrong.
    citychicdress3
What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger? A plus size fashion blogger?
What I love most about being a blogger is interacting with the women who follow me on social media. It’s great to have this space where we can get together and vent together, laugh together and talk about fabulous clothes, shoes, recipes, workouts etc. We have a lot of fun!

    Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
I have so many, it would be hard to list. But my go-to stores are definitely ASOS, Simply Be, Fashion To Figure, Ashley Stewart, Forever 21 and City Chic. I’m also SUCH a shoe girl, and I invest a lot into them. I love Louboutins and Jimmy Choos. I work very hard, and so I like to treat myself to a beautiful shoe. But I also love a great affordable shoe as well — like those from Steve Madden & Jessica Simpson.

    Describe your personal style.
My style reflects whatever mood I’m in — it’s always evolving, but mostly it’s trendy, fun, a mix of high and low, and of course, sexy.

Any bloggers currently on your radar?
I have a long list of bloggers I follow. I love GarnerStyle.  I’m sure she’s tired of me fangirling over her. I also love Soraya from Style Is My Thing, Claire From Fashion Bomb Daily, Brooklyn Blonde, Gisella Francisca — there are so many.

My Style: FLATS PLEASE! Spring Festival Style with DSW

    HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

You know, as the weather warms up and the flowers start to bloom, so do the music festivals! But, when it comes to finding something comfy and cute to wear, I always beeline for comfort FIRST when it comes to my feet with festivals and concerts- DO NOT PLAY. SO when DSW asked me to put together my ideal looks for a few of the current and upcoming festivals, I immediately went to their flat options!

Let me ask you first, when was the last time you have been to a DSW? Seriously, there are all kinds of gems in there in addition to shoes (I scored my clutch to FFFWeek last year from here!) And their clearance section? A girl could lose her mind, focus Marie- festivals.

As I said, with all of that walking? Flats are a must- I DO NOT CARE. Also, the clothes must be able to breathe on their own and NOT stick to me. I cannot be fussing with clothes and how my feet feel- nope. I won’t do it. Anywho… I found this Mix No. 6 Avesa Striped Flat Sandal and immediately, I thought of all of the options here. Add to the fact that this brown was like a nude to me option? I dug it and made them mine!

Now, depending on the mood I am in, I have two options to play with here… I can go Boho Luxe in this Evans two piece royal blue number or I can go laid back Cali girl in this City Chic option. Hrmmm. Decisions here and I am in love with both and because I can easily create these two outfits from the shoes, then I know that these flats are about to get all of its workout this spring and summer season- I mean… I cannot always rock a flip flop, so this shoe gives me a fancier option!

But look at how I put each look together:

    Look 1:

    Festival Style with DSW #TCFSTyle

Festival Style with DSW #TCFSTyle by mariedenee featuring wayfarer sunglasses
Blue top / Crossbody handbag / Eloquii wayfarer sunglasses / Mix No. 6 Avesa Striped Flat Sandal | DSW

    Look 2:

    Festival Style with DSW

Festival Style with DSW by mariedenee featuring cat eye glasses
Black romper / Tom Ford cat eye glasses, $285 / Crossbody Bags and Mini Bags | DSW / Western Style Denim Jacket at Simply Be / Mix No. 6 Avesa Striped Flat Sandal | DSW

See how I made it work? Which look speaks to you the most? I do find myself leaning more towards the crop top set from Evans though and with the flats, it makes for the perfect dressed up, yet laid back, but I am feeling fabulous and having an amazing time- type of vibe… right? Right.

If you haven’t the pleasure of scoring some flats or seasonal sandals, I advise you check out DSW.com stat!

How would you rock these flats? Are these your style? Let’s talk about this!

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by DSW through their partnership with POPSUGAR Select. While I was compensated to write a post about DSW, all opinions are my own.

Pop Sugar OPI Hawaii Color Challenge: The Plus Size Edition

    HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

    Happy Tuesday all!

When Pepper from Pretty Plus Pep asked me to be apart of the Pop Sugar OPI Color Challenge I immediately said “Yes!” This challenge was right up my alley because I love color and I get to collaborate with some of my favorite bloggers.  When it was time to pick a color, I chose bright green because it’s vibrant and fresh like Spring.  I also chose it because while I love bright green I rarely wear it.  I’m definitely guilty of repeating the same colors over and over.  It becomes such a habit, I don’t even know I’m doing it.   So to combat this, I’m going to make more of an effort to incorporate more color combos into my Spring wardrobe.

How do you brighten up your wardrobe?

Please check out these wonderful  bloggers in the challenge to see how they styled their chosen colors!

    Have a wonderful day!
