I have so many things to tell you!

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
Hey my pretty babes,
How are you?? Did you see something cool today like a cloud that was shaped like a rock that was shaped like a shark?! Me too. I have so many things to tell you! Aside from the fact my entire world is COMPLETELY CRUMBLING DOWN A WORMHOLE OF CHILDHOOD MEMORIES. I will elaborate: late last night I discovered the simple fact that the Berenstein Bears are not, in fact, Berenstein Bears but BERENSTAIN BEARS with an A, and I am being SO REAL WITH YOU RIGHT NOW that I have never legitimately questioned alternate timelines and parallel universes until now. ARE ANY OF YOU REAL?!@?@?@?Ok. Calming down because this is my own crisis. You are all real and adorable and I love you and you are reading this on my website that has photos of me and poems and I play music and we are all okay. I’m just going to eat some friut and ride my bicycle later.Great news, I’m in the UK again! I am feeling like it’s almost a second home by now. “Heart on my Sleeve” is bei ng relea sed there IN 2 DAYS omgomg! YAY MUSIC! I’ve never quite understood holding releases for different countries, because the internet, but nonetheless, IT HAS ARRIVED TO THE UK! I have a show in London that is unfortunately (but for me, very fortunately) sold out, but have no fear little kitten, I am also doing a small set at Brighton Pride! So come see me and be gay or trans or an ally or queer and PROUD and if you are none of those things, I will pray for you and bless your little homophobic heart with my two very gay hands.

Note: if you would like an autographed copy (UK babies), you can purchase one here. Here arethe deets for the shows!
Wednesday, July 29 at 7pm – Hoxton Bar & Kitchen – London, UK
Saturday, August 1 at 12pm – Brighton & Hove Pride – Preston Park – Brighton, UKAlso also the Ribcage music video is in editing now! EXCITING!!I am also hard at work writing a ton of things. Occasionally some of the things I am writing feel very relevant to the world, and I can’t help but share. Recently, a male editor from Oprah magazine responded to a question that was pretty alarming to me. A woman asked if she could pull off a crop top, and he responded by saying, “If (and only if) you have a  flat stomach.”

I know, right? THE WORST. If I had a magazine, it would just be poems about how beautiful everyone is, and then in the margins it would have pictures of baby animals mid-sneeze. The statement from the editor was so relevant to a piece I had just written for my next book (!!!!!!!), that I decided to share it on faceland. I have also decided to post it here, so that you can reference it when someone sucks really bad and says stupid bullshit like “glorifying obesity” when fat girls aren’t ashamed of their bodies. Ok, angel kittens, I leave you with this poem. xoxo

Everyone is a Babe

“These women need to stop glorifying unhealthy obesity”

1. The body acceptance and radical self love that I practice when wearing a crop top has nothing to do with glorifying obesity or thin-shaming. It’s about loving my body RIGHT NOW, as I am.

2. Also, the fuck is ‘glorifying obesity’?

3. Oh, you are my doctor?

4. NO, YOU’RE ACTUALLY A DOCTOR OF BEING AN ASSHOLE

5. I like my belly button.

6. This is a new revelation.

7. My belly button does not interrupt your life

8. Why do you hate so much my belly button?

9. When I was in high school, I fantasized about taking a knife

to my stomach so I could be normal-sized.

10. I have always been normal-sized.

11. Denise Jolly. Tess Holliday. Sonya Renee. Lindy West. Michelle Allison. Gabi Fresh. Kim Selling.

12. One night I found a website that just had photos of girls with stomach rolls and back rolls and they were smiling and so happy and I cried because I was uncomfortable and envious of their joy.

13. Swimsuits are scary for everyone.

14. I have performed a poem about how to love your body almost every night for 6 years. Sometimes I have to fake it.

15. I have never seen a legitimate sex scene in a feature film with a woman over a size 16 that was not used as a comedic tool. Ever.

16. I used to drink a fifth of tequila and smoke a pack of cigarettes every night.

17. Interestingly, no one criticized my health then.

18. Everyone is terrified of their naked body.

19. Including men.

20. We are all complex. Everyone is breaking and healing and hating all at the same time. You are not exempt. I am not exempt.

21. Photoshop is the devil incarnate.

22. You cannot love what you hope your body to be, without loving it for what it is.

23. My body is what it is what it is.

24. The mirror is what it is what it is.

25. I have found myself at the mercy of my own reflection, wondering if my size diminishes my femininity.

Answer: It does not. I am adorable as fuck.

26. Do you know how miserable it feels to maintain a body that has been deemed unworthy by society? In the same breath, do you know what a joy it is to take care of something that you love?

27. Therefore, celebrating your body is a revolutionary act.

28. I feel my own self breathe. I feel my organs when I breathe and when I shower, I feel my skin on my skin. I know that it is mine. I listen to what my body asks for.

I put on a shirt that shows my stomach. I wing my eyeliner up and I ride my bike into the sunset and I will pick wildflowers with my love and later I will eat brussels sprouts and maybe a martini with lots of olives in it and I will do all this because it makes me feel good and because I am worthy of love and cute clothes and happiness.

29. Feeling worthy has taken so long.

30. I am my own holy revolution, welcome to the church of my thunder thighs, I am awake and alive, I’ve come to wear all of the crop tops that the glittering world has to offer, I’ve come to dance the shame out of my childhood, I’ve come to win back my joy. You may not snatch it from me like a purse.

I win whether I have a mouth full of pretzels or a mouth full of kale; you have not been granted the privilege to know how I consume my world and what makes me most delight in my skin.

I will glorify the shit out of my body.

Casual Friday: Lane Bryant Memories

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

TGIF all!

I know this Lane Bryant jumpsuit has already made the rounds but I couldn’t help posting it! When I was putting the jumpsuit on,  I begin to reminisce about my long term relationship with Lane Bryant. I began wearing Lane Bryant way back in the 10th grade,  My mother and older sisters were plus size too so I was exposed to Lane Bryant since I was a child. So when it was finally my turn to start wearing their clothes, it almost felt like a rite of passage into womanhood.  From that point on, Lane Bryant became a significant source of clothing throughout my life.  In college Lane Bryant’s heavy wool coats saved me brutal Binghamton winters, provided me with my first bra fitting and was where I got my first business suit for job interviews. I knew no matter the occasion, I could always depend on Lane Bryant to provide me with quality clothing. For these reasons and many more,  Lane Bryant will always occupy a special place in my heart.

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Lane Bryant’s Holiday 2015 Look BookWho is ready for a sneak peek at what the holiday season has for us? Well today, I am hyped to share with you a few faves from the Lane Bryant Holiday look book that gives a new take on dressing up for the holidays!

Think faux fur, sequins, tulle, and a little bit of shine! Think strategic layers, playful coats and chunky knits! Oh, and do not forget the boots! I must admit, now that I am living here in the south, I get a little hyped being able to finally wear tights, sweaters, and jackets longer than a week! Yes, in California, it was like maybe one good week that you could bust out all of your cold weather items… So seeing what is in store from Lane Bryant? Had me hyped and geeked!

And I am here to share it with you!

Honestly, I do dig sharing with you new items to play in, because the more we know of, the more we can shop, support, and move forward our industry! Anywho… Lane Bryant and this holiday Look Book.

This is what is to come, so the items have not landed on the site yet, but they will soon! And when they do, I will let you know! Are you ready to see? YUP? Well, take a peek:

I also must note that the updates and changes to the Lane Bryant assortment are exciting and quite welcomed! I wouldn’t mix the plaid with the sequins, but it definitely is a nice breakaway from styles past. I peeped that tulle skirt! YES. I wonder if this holiday will be the season I finally make my way into one? I am playful enough to make it work, I think LOLOL

So what do you think? I find myself checking for Lane Bryant much more often than not! Exciting! I mean that orange jumpsuit still excites me! I will probably do an official post for it, rocking it a different way!

Check out the newest arrivals and latest at LaneBryant.com!

Also, did you know that Lane Bryant is a sponsor for the TCFStyle Expo? YUP! Have you gotten your tickets yet? See you on the 8th!

Garnerstyle for Rebdolls

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)
I'm so excited to announce and release my capsule collection with Rebdolls, Garnerstyle for Rebdolls.  I've been wanting to do something like this for a while and know that I have a folder with everything I want to create for plus sizes just waiting, so when Rebdolls reached out, I was ready to go. I knew the first collection I would do would be nautical inspired. Some of you who have been with me for  years know that I have always loved the nautical look.  The color palette itself gives you a chic and expensive look even when the items are budget friendly, which is what happene d here. Chic, comfortable, and budget friendly. The collection is priced between $26.50 - $58 from sizes S to a 5X in some pieces.

Styles Notes:  I've already had a lot of questions about how the sizing runs.  My top is an 16/18 and bottom is a 26, so I'm going to run through the pieces to give insight.

  • Off the Shoulder Crop - Got a 2X and I would normally wear a 2X - shirt has little give.
  • Straight Maxi Skirt - Got a 3X and would normally get a 3X - skirt has a small amount of give, but not much.
  • Khaki Dress - Got a 4X. This is structured, but the dress does have stretch.  The fabric is considered a stretch twill.
  • Wrap Dress - Got a 3X (b/c I need enough room for my hips) - Dress has give, but in the tradition of wrap dress there you can wrap it to fit.  I probably could have gotten a 2X but it would probably create a slit and a lit tle thig h action.  So size down if you want that.
  • Yellow Midi Flare - Got a 2X, True to size, waist band has stretch, hips are free.
  • Striped Maxi Flare - Got a 2X, True to size, waist band has stretch, hips are free (similar fit to the midi flare)
  • Boat Neck Striped Top - Got a 2X, True to size, Shirt has stretch
  • Navy Midi Pencil - Got a 4X, my hips are wide, but skirt has stretch.
  • White Pants - 3X - The legs are wide and the fabric has a nice weight to it. There is give in the pants.

TCF GIVES BACK with the 2nd Annual ULTIMATE curlBOX Meetup with St. Jude’s

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

I am Your curlBOX Atlanta St. Jude’s Give Thanks Walk Team Captain!

Who is down for a little give back to the community? I am!

Last year, curlBOX teamed up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to host the ULTIMATE curlBOX Meet-Up for the St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk. Last year, the curlBOX Crew, team captains and supporters we were able to raise OVER $18,000 to go toward childhood cancer research! And guess what ya’ll! They are back to do it again and I am sooo hyped to be a part of something bigger than myself and giving back to my new community!

They have tapped me, The Curvy Fashionista as the Atlanta Team Captain! #ultimatecurlboxmeetup

AND I INVITE YOU TO JOIN ME!

TCF GIVES BACK with the 2nd Annual ULTIMATE curlBOX Meetup with St. Jude’s: I am Your Atlanta St. Jude’s Give Thanks Walk Team Captain!

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is where doctors send their toughest cases, because it has the world’s best survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancer and since St. Jude won’t give up the battle against cancer, neither will we!

We are now gearing up for round two and we want to make the second annual ULTIMATE curlBOX Meet-up BIGGER and BETTER. This year’s walk will be taking place September 26th (or 19th, depending on your location) and I would love for you to join us as we work to reach this year’s goal of $25,000!!

I am Atlanta’s Team curlBOX captain at this year’s walk in Atlanta on September 26th at Lenox Mall! I invite you to join me, curlBOX, and St. Jude as we continue on the mission to end childhood cancer!  Here, in Atlanta, we have a goal of $2000! And I KNOW we can smash this! ESPECIALLY for this cause!!!

So how can you be down?

Well, if you want to register to walk or if you want to donate to the cause, all you have to do is visit the Atlanta curlBOX page here: Stjude.org

Sign up to walk, support with as little as $10, and I will see you at the start line on September 26th! If you want to see how last year’s Ultimate curlBOX Meet-up went? Feel free to search #ultimatecurlboxmeetup on Instagram to check out the FUN from last year’s walk!

How does your donation and walking and support help?

  • Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, and food because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
  • Jude freely shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saves at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.

How about that?!?!

Not in Atlanta but want to participate? No worries! curlBOX has meetups for the walk in additional cities! Just visit curlbox.com/ultimatemeetup for deets!

Beyond Leggings: Lyssé’s Curvy Plus Size Range

HTML email (kfmyblog.blogspot.com)

Lyssé’s Curvy Plus Size Range Have you heard of Lysse? You know the UBER dope leggings company that serves up all kind of support, structure, and life? I live in these and recently, I went to check them out, looking for a few more pairs of leggings to add to my life’s arsenal and did you know that Lysse has ventured waaayyyyy beyond tights?

I mean, not only has Lysse expanded their leggings offerings, but they have a full Curvy range that includes much more than JUST leggings! I have 5 pair of leggings from the company and had seen a few pieces floating around over at Gwynnie Bee, but didn’t think much about it, until I headed over to their website to buy another pair when I noticed that Lyssé also has CLOTHES.

Are you familiar with Lysse Leggings?

Lyssé was born out of the idea that clothes should be as limitless and comfortable as the women who inspire them. So we sought out the most innovative, high performing fabrics and started designing from the inside out.

It all started with our founder Beth Gold Cohen, who was determined to solve real wardrobe issues for real women by creating the perfect legging.  Her vision inspired a way of dressing where style, fit, and fabric work together.

Lyssé’s Curvy Plus Size Range

Not only do they have full length pants and capris (which would seem like a natural extension for a company that had previously focused on leggings), they also offer a variety of cute skirts, dresses, tops, and more. They have applied some of the same technology from their leggings into their clothing offerings! Seams, structure, and style! Definitely a place for where you can add to your building blocks for your closet, Lysse has impressed me. I want these cigarette pants, the maxi dress (because duh, I love a great maxi), and I want the red dress that is not in plus sizes yet! Lyssé’s Curvy Plus Size RangeLyssé’s Curvy Plus Size Range

I was already here for Lyssé leggings. I loved how the material stretches, breathes, and wears, AND THEY LAST FOREVER. Now they have gone and applied that incredible technology to even more items. I am here for and am soooo curious about this.

If you are looking for a few more plus size wardrobe staples that will work with your curves and not against them, that are tailored to fit you just right, and that will be comfortable, then I would definitely suggest you check out what Lyssé has to offer! The items shared here are only a few and I even have a wish list request, which I hope they do in plus sizes:

THESE!  Lyssé’s Curvy Plus Size Range

I know that now that they are offering more options and I will be adding a few more pieces from them to my closet!

For more information and to shop, visit Lysse.com

Have you shopped Lysse Leggings before? DO you have a few items form them? What do you think?

In beige again

According to the forecast soon I can wear lighter clothes again. The heat is coming back. Oh dear. But to say the truth, I like it, when the weather is so different, it gives the opportunity for much more different outfits :) Beige is my latest discover, every summer I was wearing colourful clothes. But this year (I have no idea why) I feel better in toned shades. I feel very well in beige, I think I looks good with my hair and doesn't just call for stains :)

Plain white shirt

Tegoroczne lato należy chyba do tych dziwniejszych. Dzisiaj, by móc spokojnie zjeść śniadanie na balkonie, musiałam włożyć sweter. Oczywiście wolę wkładać lekki sweter, niż bezproduktywny upał, ale mimo wszystko...

DziÅ› mogÅ ‚am zost awić moje lekkie sukienki i wskoczyć znowu w ulubione dżinsy. KoszulkÄ™ mam jeszcze w wersji niebieskiej, co pokazywaÅ‚am w poÅ›cie Navy with pink i fioletowej (Violet, orang and navy ).

This years summer is very weird. A week ago I was dying because of the heat, now I had to wear a cardigan having my breakfast on the balcony. But to say the truth - I prefer wearing a cardigan instead doing nothing because it's sooo hot.

Well, I could leave my summer dresses at home for a while, and wear my favorite jeans again. I have the shirt I am wearing in two different colors too - in navy (Navy with pink) and violet (Violet, orang and navy ).

Looking at this pictures I realized one think - it is really rarely that I buy my accessories just like that in the city, I prefer things with a small history behind. For example: the scarf is a souvenir from Gdynia, the watch is a gift from my husband for our first Christmas as mar ried cou ple and the bracelet was a surprise from my husband (I asked him to buy me something through the Internet, what he did, but he added this little piece as a gift, it was a very nice surprise by unpacking the box). The bag has also its little story, but about this - maybe another time :)
